Twiki Inc announces OpenID integration for seamless login with Google, Yahoo or AOL OpenID accounts

SUNNYVALE, Calif.-- (BUSINESS WIRE)

Twiki, Inc. announces availability of OpenID for the open source TWiki. Twiki is always looking for ways to make it easier for users to login and collaborate on the platform.

Twiki administrators, managing existing installations can choose to install the OpenID library which is available for download immediately on twiki.org. The integration of OpenID 2.0 with the existing installation enables users with OpenID accounts on AOL, Google, Hyves, MyID.net, MyOpenID, MySpace, NTT MyDocomo, Verisign, Yahoo or any other Open ID provider to log into Twiki seamlessly.

"We have seen demand from our install base for OpenID functionality. Some of our customers have internal and external partners that collaborate using the Twiki Enterprise Agility Platform. The availability of OpenID in Twiki offers them an easy way to easily bring their outside partners into the workspace." said Jitendra Kavathekar, President and CEO of Twiki, Inc.

The OpenID login functionality is useful for public Twiki installations and extranets where people from different organizations can collaborate more seamlessly and are not forced to remember multiple user names and passwords. Many of the several thousand publicly facing Twiki sites could potentially benefit from the OpenID code installation. For example if Google calendar or Google docs are embedded into Twiki pages, the user will not have to log in twice if they use the OpenID login. OpenID facilitates integration of application much more seamlessly. The OpenID library will be compatible with the upcoming TWiki 5.0 release.

OpenID is an open, decentralized standard for authenticating users which can be used for access control, allowing users to log on to different services with the same digital identity where these services trust the authentication body.
