How does it work?
- Prepare Hardware : Allocate an x86 server based on the number of users you expect to support on the platform (Contact Twiki Sales for guidance.) For smaller organizations, a reasonably current PC will suffice.
- Install operating system : This could be Windows or Linux (List of VMware supported Operating Systems)
- Install Vmware : Select the free VMware product of choice (or ESX if you are a larger enterprise) and install. Most small to mid-size organizations select VMware Server 2.0. A key advantage of virtualization is that it makes relocating or backing up Twiki to a different server easy.
- Get license key and download the Twiki installer. On Windows this is a .exe file. On Linux this is a .bin file. (A .zip file with the image directory compressed is available, if you prefere not running a .exe). Everything you need to run Twiki is contained within the installation package. There is no IIS or Apache configuration work to do, no questions about finding and installing the right libraries. We've done all the work for you!
- Start VMware and point your web browser to the Twiki Configuration Tool. Add a logo, point to a mail server, create a workspace or two, add some users to your site and start experiencing the agility of Twiki based collaboration.
